Pergola dealer pricing: discounts and approvals with Configurix
Define dealer price lists, discount permissions and approval steps for a Configurix pergola workflow without exposing internal costs.
Table of contents
Two dealers can sell the same pergola using different commercial terms. They may have different purchase prices, service packages and discount permissions. A useful dealer configurator keeps those differences controlled without changing the product specification or exposing internal costs to the buyer.
Configurix supports dealer-specific price lists, margins and commercial rules within the agreed implementation. The key decision is who may change each part of the price, and which changes require approval before a quote is issued.
Separate the product from its selling terms
Keep dimensions, roof, finish and accessories in the product configuration. Keep dealer identity, price-list version, currency and selling terms in the commercial context. This separation lets your team understand whether a price changed because the product changed or because different terms applied.
Give each price list an effective date and an owner. A salesperson should not have to choose between similarly named spreadsheets to discover the correct rate.
Define discount permissions by role
A discount field is not a complete pricing policy. Define whether an adjustment applies to the entire project, selected lines or a service package. Decide which roles may make it and what information must accompany an exception.
For a Configurix project, specify a normal selling path and an approval path. An exception should retain its reason and reviewer instead of becoming an unexplained lower number in the PDF.
Make the margin calculation explicit
Margin and markup are different. With a cost of 100 and a selling price of 125, markup is 25%, while gross margin is 20% of the selling price. These are calculation examples, not Configurix prices. Agree which measure your team uses and which cost components it includes.
Treat installation, delivery and product costs consistently. A margin check based only on the frame can miss the cost of services included in the package.
| Commercial choice | Policy to define | Record to keep |
|---|---|---|
| Dealer price list | Eligibility and effective date | Applied list and version |
| Sales discount | Allowed scope and role | Amount and reason |
| Price exception | Reviewer and approval stage | Decision and timestamp |
| Customer document | Visible prices and terms | Issued quote revision |
Keep internal information out of customer documents
The buyer needs the selected pergola, included services, selling price and commercial terms. They do not need your dealer purchase price or internal approval commentary. Review the customer PDF separately from the dealer workspace; hiding a field on one screen does not prove it is absent from an export.
Test both routine and exception sales
Use the same product with two dealer accounts, then try an ordinary discount and an adjustment outside the agreed permission. Check the approval route, customer document and saved quote. Also confirm what happens when a price list changes after a proposal has been sent: an issued quote should retain its terms until deliberately revised.
